This policy explains what personal information Alpaca Painting collects through this website, why we collect it, what we do with it, how long we keep it, and how to reach us about it. Alpaca Painting is an owner-operated painting company serving Calgary and surrounding areas.

We are responsible for the personal information in our care. If you have a question or a concern about anything in this policy, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us. If you submit the estimate request form, that is:

• your name;
• your phone number;
• your email address;
• the property address, if you choose to provide it;
• the project type and your preferred timeline;
• a description of what you would like painted;
• the approximate project size and any additional details you add;
• any photographs you choose to attach.

Every field except your name, phone number, email address, project type, timeline and project description is optional. We ask only for what we need to understand your project and get back to you.

We do not ask for payment card details, banking information, government identification or any other sensitive information through this website, and you should not send those to us by email.

Why we collect it, and what we use it for

We use the information you submit for these purposes and no others:

• to reply to your enquiry;
• to understand the work and prepare an estimate;
• to schedule and carry out the work, if you decide to go ahead;
• to keep the business records we are required to keep.

Submitting the form is how you give us consent to use your information for those purposes. You can withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us, subject to any records we are legally required to retain.

Marketing email

Asking us for an estimate does not sign you up for anything. We will not add you to a mailing list, and we will not send you marketing email. If we ever start sending a newsletter or promotional messages, it will be to people who have separately and clearly asked for it, and every message will identify us and include a working unsubscribe link, as Canada’s anti-spam legislation requires.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. It is shared only with the service providers who make this site work, and only so they can do that job:

• Our email provider. When you submit the form, the details and any photos are delivered to our business inbox through a third-party transactional email service, which processes the message solely in order to deliver it.
• Our email host. The resulting message is then stored in our business email account.
• Our website host. Our hosting provider processes the request in order to serve the site and pass your submission on. It also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
• Google Analytics, but only if you have accepted analytics — see below.

Some of these providers operate outside Canada, which means your information may be processed in another country and could be accessible to that country’s authorities under its laws. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Analytics and cookies

This website sets no cookies of its own, and it does not use advertising trackers, pixels or similar tools.

We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site — which pages are viewed and how people arrive. Nothing loads until you agree. If analytics is switched on, you are shown a banner and no analytics script or cookie is loaded unless you accept it. Declining is a real choice: if you decline, no analytics runs and this site places nothing in your browser. Your choice is stored locally in your own browser so you are not asked again.

Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. If we later add any other tracking or advertising tool, we will update this policy and it will sit behind the same consent.

How long we keep it

Your submission is emailed to us. It is not written to a database and it is not stored on this website — there is no copy of your enquiry sitting on the server, and uploaded photographs are never saved to a public location.

We keep the resulting email for as long as we need it to respond to you and to carry out any work that follows, and afterwards for as long as we need to keep business records. Enquiries that do not lead to work are deleted once they are no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

How we protect it

• The site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
• Email credentials and API keys are held on the server only and are never sent to your browser.
• The estimate form is protected against automated abuse by rate limiting and spam filtering, without making you solve a puzzle to contact us.
• Photo uploads are limited to image files and to a maximum size, and are passed straight into the email rather than being stored.

Photographs of completed work

We photograph completed projects and may publish those photographs on this website and on social media. Before publishing, we remove the location data that cameras and phones embed in image files, and we do not publish property addresses or the personal details of the owner.

If you would prefer that we did not photograph your project, or that we removed a photograph already published, just tell us and we will.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can raise it with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, or with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

This website is intended for adults arranging painting work. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
